The children really enjoyed the story of Handa’s Surprise which is set in Africa. They were interested in finding out about the different fruits and animals in the story. They enjoyed a fruit tasting activity where they tried a banana, an orange, a mango, a pineapple, a passion fruit, an avocado and tangerines. Unfortunately we couldn’t get a guava to try! We also practiced carrying the basket of fruit on their head just like Handa in the story. We also drew some lovely pictures and made our own display of the sequence of the story in the conservatory.
