Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
At Greenshoots we recognise all individual needs of the children in our care. All children are monitored through continuous assessment in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum we follow. We use this curriculum as a guide to assess a child’s development.
If we identify that a child may be in need of additional support then our experienced and dedicated special educational needs and disabilities coordinator (SENDCO) will co-ordinate the support needed. This may involve referrals to other agencies, such as the gateway, speech and language service or to the infant mental health team.
Our Greenshoots SENDCO is Natalie. She will work closely with parents/carers and the Early Years local authority to ensure the appropriate support can be put in place for a child that needs it.
Natalie and the staff team will make every effort to support a child with additional needs through early intervention, in order to support their learning and development and make a positive impact.
Plymouth Online Directory (POD) provides parent/carers and Early Years settings with information about all of the services in the city, which may be useful for parents/carers who have a child with special educational needs.
