Welcome

Welcome back! We hope you enjoyed the lovely weather in the half term.  Remember if you have some lovely photos of the fun things you did, upload them to Tapestry for us to see. We will be running a space theme for the first half of the term which we are sure the children will love.  We will then move onto Spring and growing which will then lead us into our Easter celebrations.

Training

‘Special Educational Needs and Disability Co-ordinator AWARD’.   (SENDCO Award)

*Natalie has been given the opportunity to attend this course on Thursdays for 12 weeks.  Natalie has been the SENDCO for many years and has good experience in supporting children who may have additional needs.

This course will help Natalie and the setting gain recognition that this is something Greenshoots is passionate about and that we will do our upmost to support all children in our setting. The course will benefit all children of Greenshoots and will benefit the setting as a whole.  Natalie will gain a ‘Level 3’ qualification once she has completed the 12 weeks and completed a reflective portfolio.

The setting is excited about Natalie gaining this qualification and it will open up opportunities for others to visit Greenshoots and for Natalie to visit them to see what SEND looks like across the city. Natalie will also visit a special needs school in Plymouth.

If you would like to find out more about what Natalie is completing on this course she is more than happy to discuss it with you.

Ellie will be the most senior person on Thursday’s until the end of May when Natalie completes the course.

*All of the Greenshoots ladies have undertaken the ‘Promoting Positive Behaviour’ course on our new online system NoodleNow.

* We all received training from a lady called Karen (who is a dental care professional from Well Connected) on our tooth brushing scheme.  Tooth brushing is part of our daily routine so we felt this would be beneficial so that it can be delivered effectively.

*Natalie attended the SENDCO conference and has information about events in Plymouth for families who have children with additional needs.  For more information visit our website and Facebook page or speak to Natalie.
