COVID-19 – Important notice for Parents and Carers

Dear Parents / Carers

We can appreciate this is a very worrying time for us all and the uncertainty we all face increases that worry.

As a team, we have been in constant discussion surrounding the developing issue of coronavirus disease COVID-19 and we regularly discuss our next steps as a setting. So far, the support of the trustees and the hard work of the staff has been invaluable and it is paramount to maintaining the high standards we expect and deliver at Greenshoots. We have and will continue to express the need to follow government guidelines.

There are precautions and recommendations on display in Greenshoots, so please ensure you are adhering to these or those on the government website (click for more information).

To help with handwashing and minimising contact within the confinement of the setting, staff will meet you outside of the main Greenshoots door to collect your child. We recognise this is out of their drop off routine and we wish to minimise aggravation to this as much as possible, but we must also be mindful of maintaining the suggested government guidance regarding social distancing in line with remaining opening.

Following recent, updated guidance regarding COVID-19, if you or any member of your household has

  • A new, persistent cough, and/or;
  • A fever, with a high temperature

Everyone in the household must stay at home for 14 days. Any child brought to the setting displaying these symptoms will not be allowed to enter Greenshoots and will be sent home to proceed with the 14 day isolation process.

We also need to make you aware of the potential of staff self-isolation. As per guidance regarding COVID-19, any pregnant member of staff or those with underlying health conditions will be self-isolating for 14 days. If, in an extreme case, we have more staff self-isolating than we have available to cover ratio in the setting, we will have to regrettably close early and we will implement our emergency closure procedure. If the government deems it necessary that we close, again we will implement our emergency closure procedure. During a period of enforced closure we recognise that this is not a fault of the Trust or of you as parents/carers and therefore, you will not be charged for any sessions. For those who choose to remove their child/children before this closure is formally announced or for those having to self-isolate, you will still be charged normal rates, as per your parent contracts regarding sickness and absence. As a charity we are doing all we can to support everyone and aim to deal with this situation as effectively as we can.

If you require any further information regarding the current situation or updates on our procedures, please speak to Natalie as soon as possible. While we have to ensure we follow government guidance and act in the best interests of your child, we do understand how this is a difficult situation for you, our parents / carers.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your patience and dedication in supporting us at this time of difficulty and uncertainty for all as well as the need to act decisively and responsibly.

Please make sure that with whatever comes next you take care of yourselves and each other. Isolate when needed and please stay safe.

We will update you as soon as we can.

Please take care.
